Does the restaurant now accept credit cards or checks or house charges?
it helps if they know you.
They allow Chuck Schumer through the door. Enough said.
This place is a hoot and I love it. It's outrageously expensive, pretentious and crowded (you're practically sitting on top of the table next to you) but it's quiet and food is consistently good. The only problem is getting in the front door and they only take cash, which can be a shock after you're bill comes and a it's a few hundred dollars. But aside from that, I like it (can't explain why).
MoreUpper East side stalwart Italian. Service is snappy and professional , as is the kitchen.
Moregood restaurant
Fabulous food...wonderful service
Delicious. Iconic. Intimate restaurant where you can enjoy friendship, conversation and delicious food!
MoreWaiters with smartphones in their hands who have no empathy with customers and no attempt to establish it. I paid a glass of Brunello di Montalcino $ 30 and a plate of tomato spaghetti $ 26.Only a few non-connoisseurs can come back a second time to blow the wallet's money literally. Disturbing atmosphere. I strongly advise against it.
MoreThe non plus ultra of the Italian restaurant in New York, fantastic cuisine and very nice owners. It's not a cheap place but trust me, the shopping is worth it.
Morei have never liked this restaurant for dinner as it's small and uncomfortable...and because it's so popular, they don't honor reservations promptly....and I'm not good when told to wait outside for a half hour. But lunch today was terrific. Only 1/3 of the tables were taken and we sat for 2 hours talking. I had a pasta with shrimp in pesto sauce that was terrific.
MoreDelicious food, very professional service but restaurant is a little cramped. Definitely worth a try.
MoreFantastic food,
Coming from Whidbey Island, WA, just North if Seattle. This restaurant has tradition home cooked Italian food with wonderful customer service. Makes you feel like you are in Sicily Italy with family. The owner and his wife are truly amazing people. Hats off to the chef!!
MoreIF (!!!) you can get a reservation, you will get great food (pricey, but not spectacular) and feel you're part of the A List. Impeccable service and good for people watching.
MoreWine priced 30-40% more than same wine at other restaurants. Food prices are high too. Waiters push you to order more. Some dishes are very good (salmon). Others are mediocre at best (stuffed mozzarella uses dried out cheese). And be warned when you get that big check they only take CASH.
MoreVery delicious Italian with cozy atmosphere
Delicous food
Very poor service
Tried this place in the past with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I enjoyed the excellent character and tasty food and beverages. Highly recommended.
MoreA wonderful ambiance to dine
Wonderful... Great impeccable friendly service and food prepared just the way I like...
Moregreat neighborhood place, of course only this neighborhood could handle the cash only sky high prices.
MoreExcellent Italian restaurant in New York
Amazing dining
Great UES style italian food. Your parents will love it
Delicious food and great atmosphere. Expensive
Noisy and ridiculously overpriced
Great food. Excellent service. Nice atmosphere.
Great food and service
Waiter arrogant and impatient; chicken dish over cooked, vodka drink half the size of other NY restaurants. Way over priced for mediocre food and unpleasant service. Don't go. Waiters indifferent to complaint about the food. A terrible experience. Nice coat girl. Fire cook and waiters..
MoreA bit hectic and expensive
